Year 2

The Year 2 class has had a busy start to the year.
Each week the children choose a topic of interest and bring in any information about that topic. We had a fantastic demonstration on Tae-Kwon-Do with children participating in the lesson given by Instructors. The children can't wait till the following week to find out what the new topic will be.
Term 2 has seen the commencement of 'The Premier's Reading Challenge'. The children have found the books both challenging and rewarding. This program could not be successful without the support of the Librarian and the parents of Year 2.
Education Week is especially busy as the school holds a 'Grandparents Day'. Grandparents are invited to come to school to see their grandchild in the classroom and stay for morning tea and a school performance. It is such a wonderful opportunity for the family to get together. Year 2 are very excited as they have created some lovely pieces of artwork which will be on display not only in the classroom but at Charlestown Square during Education Week.
During Terms 3 and 4 Year 2 boys and girls have the opportunity to be involved in the Boys Dance group or the Junior Girls dance group. These groups will be asked to perform at a variety of events such as Education Week, end of year concert, Charlestown Square and if successful The Hunter Dance Festival. The children are very dedicated as they give up one lunch time per week and it certainly shows in the standard of their performance.
Throughout 2009 the children will be given the opportunity to be involved in new and challenging experiences in a safe and happy environment.
